After a few weeks of rumours here and there, Variety has today confirmed that Mark Ruffalo is in final negotiations to star alongside Chris Hemsworth in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok.
This will mark the first time Ruffalo’s Hulk will appear in a movie outside of the Avengers films. Teaming Hulk with Thor is an interesting play by Marvel which, along with the huge cast of Captain America: Civil War, maybe the start of a trend of moving away from solo character movies to more ensemble pieces. Box office numbers on the Avengers franchise will tell you that’s a winning formula.
Excitement for Thor: Ragnarok just jumped up a notch in my book! Along with the recent announcement of left field directing choice, Kiwi director Taika Waititi (What We Do in the Shadows), I’m pretty excited for this one.
Most fans would be happy with more of this….
….and less of this…
THOR: RAGNAROK is scheduled for release in November 2017.
