Disney and Lucasfilm have been slowly drip feeding us details about the first of their anthology films since the Star Wars Celebration event back in April, and now comes news that Forest Whitaker is in talks to play a role in the film.
It’s unclear at this stage whether Whitaker’s character will be on the side of the Rebellion or the Empire, but what we do know is he’ll be joining an already stellar cast that includes Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Diego Luna, and Riz Ahmed (who was great in last year’s Nightcrawler). It’s pretty clear that director Gareth Edwards is serious about casting good actors in these roles, and with Whitaker being an Oscar winner, well, you don’t get much more serious than that.
