The First Trailer For ‘Beauty And The Beast’ Is Asking You To Be It’s Guest!

Walt Disney has just dropped the first trailer to the live action remake of the animated classic Beauty And The Beast. Starring Emma Watson (Belle), Dan Stevens (Beast/Prince Adam), Luke Evans (Gaston), Ewan McGregor (Lumiere), Emma Thompson (Miss Potts) and Ian McKellan (Cogsworth).

Belle is a bright, beautiful, and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a Beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior to recognize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

So… it’s literally a shot for shot remake. What’s the point? The original animated film is perfect as it is. If you are going to remake it at least add something a little different to the story. Change the tone, the style, something.

From what I can tell everyone in the film is just playing the animated counterparts, in most cases like Lumiere (Ewan McGregor) they are even imitating the original cast voices.screen-shot-2016-11-15-at-10-07-26-amI’m sure some of you are like “Woah, woah, woah, what the hell Ryan, this looks great!” and to that I say, “Does it look great? Does it really? Or is it just a great cup of nostalgia that just brings back memories of why you loved the original?” I know it’s a “tale as old as time”, but this film is the perfect example of what is wrong with Hollywood. They pick up something we love, slap a new coat of paint on it and hope that we don’t notice.screen-shot-2016-11-15-at-10-07-34-am
