Brie Larson Confirmed As Captain Marvel

The news is coming thick and fast out of San Diego where Comic-Con is in full swing, and the latest juicy bit has landed towards the end of the epic Marvel session in Hall H. Kevin Feige (finally) announced what we’d all just assumed was fact after the rumours started circulating a few months back. Reigning Best Actress Oscar winner Brie Larson (Room, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) will be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the one and only Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel!

Ending months of speculation, and kickstarting the first female led film in the MCU, this is exciting news. Larson, also in town for the Kong: Skull Island panel, even surprised the Marvel-ites by showing up on stage to do the coronation in person. In making the announcement, Feige stopped short of saying that the Captain Marvel film would be Larson’s first go-round as the character, fuelling speculation that Larson may show up in one or a number of different pics before her solo debut in 2019.

Captain Marvel, formally Ms. Marvel until she took over the “Captain” mantle in 2012, has ties to a lot of the different parts of the Marvel Universe, most specifically the more “cosmic” line of heroes, which could mean that we’ll catch a glimpse of her in Guardians Of The Galaxy: Vol 2but my money would be on her showing up in Avengers 3 & 4 (formally Infinity War).

Someone who is definitely excited is twitter user BossLogic, who has already whipped up his idea of what Larson could look like in character:

What do you guys think, will Larson be a Marvel-ous addition to the MCU? Sound off in the comments below, and keep your eyes out for more news from the halls of Comic Con!
