20th Century Fox has just dropped this first trailer for X-Men Apocalypse, the 6th film in the X-Men Franchise.

Does anyone else feel like this series is just getting tired? I feel like I’ve already seen half of this movie so many times and why does every X-Men film have to have that inevitable “must break into Cerebro” scene. There is also a giant lack of action sequences in the trailer, just a bunch of characters talking about what is coming. Of course that’s a whole lot better then showing the entire film in the trailer but I definitely don’t go see superhero films for the banter.

Character wise X-Men: Apocalypse is nailing the look, Storm and Jubilee pop straight off the screen and look straight from the comics. Apocalypse no longer looks like Ivan Ooze which is great and I love that size changing ability about 1:45 in looked awesome, I’m glad they are going for the comic’s counterpart rather then just making up his powers.

Also if the biggest reveal is usually left for the last second of the trailer why the heck did they go for the Xavier bald shot. Is that meant to shock us? It looked like a Biggest Loser weight loss reveal.

Here’s the official synopsis

Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
