The first look for fantasy movie Bright is out and I’ve got to say it looks strange but I’m intrigued. You can check out the teaser trailer above. Reuniting Suicide Squad star Will Smith and director David Ayer, Bright features a world where humans and mythical creatures seemingly co-exist.
The synopsis is as follows:
Bright is an upcoming American fantasy film starring Will Smith as a Los Angeles Police Department police officer who teams up with an Orc cop in a world of both human and mythical creatures.
It sounds like a combination of End of Watch, R.I.P.D., Blade and a handful of other titles. David Ayer described Bright as “a contemporary cop thriller, but with fantastical elements”.
Written by Max Landis whose writing credits include Chronicle, American Ultra and a pretty kickass Power Rangers script that ultimately went unused, you can expect Bright to be up to Landis’ usual unique and quirky style.
A potential fantasy buddy cop movie with humans, orcs and elves; you can count us in. Furthermore, Ayer and Smith have another chance to work together after the somewhat lackluster Suicide Squad.
The film also stars Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez and Ike Barinholtz.
Bright has a release date of December on Netflix.
