Black Mass

Rating: MA15+

Starring: Johnny Depp, Joel Edgerton, Benedict Cumberbatch, Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson

Synopsis: The true story of Whitey Bulger, the brother of a state senator and the most infamous violent criminal in the history of South Boston, who became an FBI informant to take down a Mafia family invading his turf.

Our Verdict

Trailer:

Why you should be interested: After a few years stuck in a string of movies that afforded him the opportunity to play weird and heavily made up characters at the centre of not very well told stories (Alice In Wonderland, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, Dark Shadows, etc, etc), Depp has finally found a knock out story to go with all the prosthetics. With an outstanding supporting cast, and some of the best reviews of his career, if you’re a fan you’d be crazy to miss it.

Who should see it: Those who are in deep with Depp

Miss You Already

Rating: M

Starring: Drew Barrymore, Toni Collette, Dominic Cooper, Paddy Considine

Synopsis: The friendship between two life-long girlfriends is put to the test when one starts a family and the other falls ill.

Trailer:

Why you should be interested: I wasn’t aware that Beaches needed an update, but here you go. From the looks of the trailer this is going to be a three hankie weep fest, so it might be best to go see with your mum or a group of girlfriends ladies, not one for the men-folk I don’t think. I’m obviously not the target market, but they’ve assembled a great cast for this and if it doesn’t go too saccharine it might be worth your time.

Who should see it: Go see it with the person who is the wind beneath your wings
