What To Watch This Weekend – Apr 6-9

With so much grabbing for your attention and dollars these days, it’s easy to miss when the latest releases are heading to a cinema near you. So come back every week as we here at So, Is It Any Good? preview the new movies hitting screens, and give you the lowdown on what to watch this weekend.

This weekend it’s quieter than most, but you can still ride along with the CHiPS or dance your heart out with Dance Academy: The Movie.

Here’s what to watch!

Rating: MA15+

Starring: Michael Peña, Dax Shepard, Jessica McNamee, Kristen Bell

Synopsis: The adventures of two California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers as they make their rounds on the freeways of Los Angeles.

Why you should care: Looking like a reheated (but lesser version) of 21 Jump Street, feeling like it’s probably about 10 years too late and aimed at the wrong demo, there’s nothing about this movie that screams must watch to me. The people that are going to see this will probably have no idea that it’s a movie adaptation of the TV series, cause that came out in the 70’s. Swing and miss I’m afraid.

Who should see it: Michael Pena fans, cause you just know he’ll be the best part of this.

Dance Academy: The Movie

Rating: PG

Starring: Miranda Otto, Xenia Goodwin, Keiynan Lonsdale

Synopsis: This 2017 movie follows the original Dance Academy TV show and tracks where the characters are in their lives now.

Why you should care: An adaptation of the ABC3 drama, this one is purely for the fans of the show. If you’ve never seen it, it’s not likely that you’ll get much out of it. For the fans, lace up your dancing shoes!

Who should see it: Those in it for the love of Dance
