There’s A Bit Of Marvel-ception In The New Trailer For ‘Doctor Strange’

During it’s epic session at Comic-Con, Marvel has debuted the latest trailer for their Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer Doctor Strange. Check it out above.

We definitely get a better scope of Doctor Strange’s powers from this trailer, although the plot remains elusive apart from it being an origin movie. The effects look mind-blowing, and definitely owe a debt to Christopher Nolan and Inception. I like that there’s a glimpse of humour in there as well, meaning that this won’t be the overly serious entry into the MCU. All in all, a solid trailer, but I hope next time they give us an idea of what the stakes are in the movie.

Here’s the synopsis that we’ve got to work with currently:

After his career is destroyed, a brilliant but arrogant and conceited surgeon gets a new lease on life when a sorcerer takes him under her wing and trains him to defend the world against evil.

Benedict Cumberbatch has shown time and time again that he can command the screen when he wants to, and Tilda Swinton is doing her delightfully weird take on a Buddhist monk. The only character I’m a bit worried about is Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer. She is finally glimpsed in this trailer, but doesn’t have any lines and mostly looks scared as things explode around her. I hope they give her much more to do than be the damsel in distress.

Marvel also released the official poster during the session:doctor-strange-posterDOCTOR STRANGE magics into theatres November 3, 2016.
