The Breakfast Club

So, Where Are They Now? – The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is a movie staple, as are a lot of John Hughes movies. A simple premise of five students who slowly develop somewhat of a friendship over Saturday detention. The five main actors have all had large careers, some bigger than others. We here at So, Is It Any Good decided to see what they’ve been up in this edition of Where Are They Now?

Emilio Estevez / Andrew Clark / An Athlete

Probably the most recognisable of the club, Emilio Estevez has appeared in The Mighty Ducks trilogy, Young Guns and Repo Man. The son of Martin Sheen and brother of Charlie Sheen, Emilio has kept himself out of the public eye more than his family. He has turned his efforts to working behind the camera, writing and directing Bobby (2006) and The Way (2010). He is currently working on The Public, a film exploring mental illness and civil rights set in a library.Emilio Estevez

Molly Ringwald / Claire Standish / A Beauty

A John Hughes regular in the 80s, Ringwald had already appeared in Sixteen Candles before the Breakfast Club. The following year she starred in another Hughes film, Pretty in Pink but later turned down a role in his next film, Some Kind of Wonderful for fear of being typecast. Most recently Ringwald appeared in a guest role in Riverdale as Archie’s mother.Molly Ringwald in Riverdale

Anthony Michael Hall / Brian Johnson / A Brain

Another Hughes regular, Anthony Michael Hall appeared in both Sixteen Candles and Weird Science. He went on to star in Edward Scissorhands and in 2008s The Dark Knight as Gotham reporter Mike Engel. He held the lead role in TV series The Dead Zone for 6 seasons and more recently appeared in films like Foxcatcher, Live by Night and War Machine.Anthony Michael Hall in War Machine

Judd Nelson / John Bender / A Criminal

Funnily enough my first knowledge of Judd Nelson came not from The Breakfast Club but rather from Transformers: The Movie, where he provided the voice of Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime. His appearance in movies and television has been plentiful, but scrolling through his IMDB I admit I only remember him being in a few things here and there, namely The Boondock Saints II and a few episodes of Nikita and Empire.Judd Nelson

Ally Sheedy / Allison Reynolds / A Basket Case

Ally Sheedy starred alongside Emilio Estevez and Judd Nelson in St. Elmo’s Fire in addition to The Breakfast Club in 1985. She also appeared in WarGames and Short Circuit. Including some Broadway appearances, Sheedy more recently appeared in a little indie flick called Little Sister along with a cameo as a teacher in X-Men Apocalypse.Ally Sheedy in X-Men Apocalypse
