In a short break from our all out coverage of The Force Awakens, we just thought we’d point out that Disney has quietly dropped a teaser trailer for one of next year’s most anticipated family movies, Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The BFG.
Take a look:
There’s not really much to go on, but it’s enough to get me excited. Combining the genius of Dahl with the filmmaking prowess of Spielberg should make this a real treat. I like that this truly is a teaser trailer, it sets a great (if slightly creepy) tone and we don’t even really get a good glimpse of the titular BFG. Pumped!
Here’s the synopsis:
A girl named Sophie (Ruby Barnhill) encounters the Big Friendly Giant (Mark Rylance) who, despite his intimidating appearance, turns out to be a kindhearted soul who is considered an outcast by the other giants because unlike his peers refuses to eat boys and girls. Sophie, The BFG, and the Queen of England set out on an adventure to capture the evil, man-eating giants who have been invading the human world.
THE BFG will hit theatres June 30th, 2016.
