Joel Kinnaman Says Suicide Squad 2 Won’t Start Filming Until 2018

During the press junket for House Of Cards Season 5, Joel Kinnaman sat down with The Hollywood Reporter and gave some brief updates on Suicide Squad 2.

During the interview Kinnamen went on to say,

“As far as i know they’re writing the script and i think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018, but that could change. I think i’ll definitely come back for it”.

As it stands right now, Warner Bros. is currently searching for a director to helm the film, who will be taking over from previous director David Ayer. The names that have been thrown around so far have been Mel Gibson, and king Arthur: Legend Of The Sword director Guy Ritchie.

David Ayer looks to have moved on from the shambles of 2016’s Suicide Squad, as he is set to direct the upcoming Gotham City Sirens which will reunite Ayer with Margot Robbie. It appears as though Kinnamen would like Ayer to return to direct the sequel, as he also went on to say.

“Ultimately, I’d love for David Ayer to direct it, but if he doesn’t want to direct it then someone who is great with character and that’s able to ground the story and maybe put these characters in a more normal situation. It would be really interesting to see these crazy characters interact with regular people as well.”

Well, there you have it folks. Suicide Squad 2 is moving at a snails pace and has no plans to start principal photography. So it looks like we won’t be seeing the Squad until at least 2019.
