STAR WARS EPISODE VIII TO OPEN LATER THAN EXPECTED

Disney and Lucasfilm just announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII has been moved. Originally set for release in May 2017, will now open on December 15, 2017 (December 14 in Australia).

The change of dates can be attributed to the massive success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens recieved in the Christmas holiday slot. It’s smashed almost every record imaginable.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: Episode VIII is currently in preproduction and will begin principal photography in London next month. Kathleen Kennedy and Ram Bergman will produce and J.J. Abrams, Jason McGatlin, and Tom Karnowski will executive produce.

STAR WARS EPISODE VIII hits cinemas in Australia on December 15, 2016
