So Good News: Dark Universe, Thor: Ragnarok, Han Solo

The world of movie news moves at lightspeed some days, so it’s hard to keep up with everything (even for those of us that run an entertainment blog). So welcome to your daily news briefing here at So, Is It Any Good? where we round up the breaking stories you might have missed.

Going Dark

Warner Bros is considering taking legal action against Universal for swiping the Dark Universe name from their in-development DCEU movie Justice League Dark. This will be interesting to see if the working title of a film is enough to derail Universal’s plans.

Casting Couch

Universal now wants Angelina Jolie to join their Dark Universe (name TBC, see above), playing the titular character in Bride Of Frankenstein. They’re certainly aiming high with this string of movies aren’t they?

Amanda Seyfried has signed on to reprise her role in the Mamma Mia! musical sequel Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! opposite Meryl Streep. The first movie was terrible, but grossed $600 million worldwide, so what are you gonna do?

Just A Glimpse

We get another little taste of the Han Solo movie as Carnarias7 have gotten their hands on a shot of one of the sets on the Phil Lord and Chris Miller directed spin-off. Are those pod-racers I spy?

Such A Tease

Josh Gad continues to tease a possible involvement with the DCEU as Oswald Cobblepot AKA The Penguin. This might be the surest sign yet though.

The Power Of Merch

Could the awesome power of the toy market be resurrecting the hopes of a Power Rangers sequel? Bandai, the toy company behind the mega-successful brand, sure seems to think so.

Mighty Neomorphin’

Collider has some great concept art for Alien: Convenant showing some of the early Alien and location designs that the production went through. Very cool – here’s a sneak peek:

Getting Really Animated

The awesome Thor: Ragnarok trailer gets an animated parody version via Youtube comedy channel AOK, complete with specific lyrics set of course to Led Zepplin’s The Immigrant Song. Check it out:
