So Good News: Venom, Batman, Jumanji 2

The world of movie news moves at lightspeed some days, so it’s hard to keep up with everything (even for those of us that run an entertainment website). So welcome to today’s news briefing here at So, Is It Any Good? where we round up the breaking stories you might have missed.

DC Dose

Recently departed Han Solo directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have apparently met with DC to discuss taking over the director reins of The Flash while they were on hiatus from Solo. The plot thickens…

The Batman director Matt Reeves wants to bring a touch of Hitchcock to the next adventure for the Caped Crusader. Digging deeper under the cowl might be the best way to go for the DCEU.

Bad To The Bone

There’s an unconfirmed rumour doing the rounds that the big bad for the Venom movie will be none other than Carnage. There’s also talk that fellow Spidey villains Kraven The Hunter and Mysterio will also be getting spin-off movies.

Casting Couch

Corey Stoll and Kyle Chandler have joined the cast of Damien Chazelle‘s Neil Armstrong biopic First Man, starring his La La Land leading man Ryan Gosling

Say It Ain’t So!

In a sad day for acting connoisseurs everywhere, Daniel Day-Lewis has announced he’s retiring from acting for good. No reason was given, but he has semi-retired in the past before coming back, so never say never I guess.

On Set

After an 8 year wait, production will finally start on all four Avatar sequels in September. James Cameron’s epic saga will be four separate movies, but tell one story.

Apparently, a lot of Jeff Goldblum‘s dialogue in the upcoming Jurassic World 2 came directly from Michael Crichton‘s book series…. and some that was riffed on by Goldblum himself.

Footage of Dolph Lundgren practicing underwater stunts for his role in Aquaman has made it’s way online:

You Choose

Netflix has rolled out a nifty new feature in some of its kid’s programming, a “choose your own adventure” style of storytelling. If it’s a success, we might be seeing the same thing roll through House Of Cards or Daredevil in the years to come.
