So Good News: Ocean’s 8, Mary Poppins Returns, Hellboy

The world of movie news moves at lightspeed some days, so it’s hard to keep up with everything (even for those of us that run an entertainment blog). So welcome to your daily news briefing here at So, Is It Any Good? where we round up the breaking stories you might have missed.

Please Sir, Can We Have Some More?

Edgar Wright has hinted that he has some ideas for a Hot Fuzz sequel. The original is one of my favourites, and I think Wright is one of the few directors that could make a sequel to something that doesn’t suck.

Casting Couch

Another Ocean’s 11 cast member will be cameoing in the upcoming all-female Ocean’s 8, joining the previously announced cameo by Matt Damon. No word yet on whether George Clooney will be helping the crew out as well, but you never know!Nicolas Cage is getting back into the action game, heading into the wilderness for revenge thriller Mandy. Expect more gonzo acting choices and hopefully a wonderful hairpiece for old Nic!

Lining Them Up

DC is firming up plans for its release schedule after Justice League and Aquaman. They’re keen to get the currently director-less Justice League Dark, and Joss Whedon’s Batgirl into production next.

A Spoonful Of Sugar

EW has released the first pics and plot details of Disney’s sequel Mary Poppins Returns in its latest issue. The Banks children are all grown up, but still need a little Mary Poppins magic to help them out.

Not So Fast

Contrary to popular rumours, Patty Jenkins hasn’t officially signed on for the sequel to new DCEU favourite Wonder Woman. It’s only a matter of time though right?

The upcoming horror sequel Amityville: The Awakening, starring Bella Thorne and Jennifer Jason Leigh, has been suddenly removed from its summer release date. No word on when we’ll be seeing it.

Going To Hell Again

New Hellboy star David Harbour has announced that the reboot Hellboy: Rise Of The Blood Queen will start shooting at the end of the year.

While we’re on the subject, initially the original Hellboy Ron Perlman was disheartened to learn that he was being replaced but has since come around to the idea, and even broke bread with new star Harbour (and Patton Oswalt):

There, now you’re all caught up! Feels good, doesn’t it? Keep coming back to So, Is It Any Good? for all the news, reviews and more that’s fit to print. You can also follow us on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with the latest happenings.
