So Good News: Jurassic World 2, The Lion King, Han Solo

The world of movie news moves at lightspeed some days, so it’s hard to keep up with everything (even for those of us that run an entertainment website). So welcome to today’s news briefing here at So, Is It Any Good? where we round up the breaking stories you might have missed.

On The Set

Celebrity gossip site Just Jared (no relation) has some set pics from Jurassic World 2, showing Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard all washed up.

Director Christopher McQuarrie and star Tom Cruise have shared some pics from the New Zealand set of Mission: Impossible 6.

Casting Couch

In perfecting casting news, Last Week Tonight funnyman John Oliver has been tapped to voice the character Zazu in Jon Favreau‘s The Lion King, taking over the role from Rowan Atkinson.

Also on Disney remakes, apparently they’re having some issues casting the leads for Guy Ritchie’s version of Aladdin. After a worldwide search, including known actors Riz Ahmed and Dev Patel, they’re currently searching for unknowns to play Aladdin and Jasmine.

First Look

The D23 Expo has given us the first look of the Wasp’s superhero outfit from the upcoming Ant-Man And The Wasp.

TMZ has snagged some sneaky set photos showing Woody Harrelson in action on the set of the now Ron Howard directed Han Solo movie (click through quick before they’re taken down!).

Taking On The Squad

The Shallows director Jaume Collet-Serra is now the frontrunner to take on the Suicide Squad 2 directing job, taking over from original director David Ayer, who has moved onto Gothan City Sirens.

Tower Getting Closer

A new The Dark Tower international trailer has been released, giving us our best look at the upcoming August release to date. Check it out:

Diana In The 80’s?

Some rumoured plotlines for Wonder Woman 2 have surfaced, placing the Amazonian princess right in the thick of the Cold War. But what of Steve Trevor?

Blast Off

File this under ridiculous… until it actually comes true. F. Gary Gray, director of The Fate Of The Furious, is bullish about his chances of returning to the franchise but doesn’t rule out the possibility of Dominic Toretto and co heading into space. Yup, you heard that right.

There, now you’re all caught up! Feels good, doesn’t it? Keep coming back to So, Is It Any Good? for all the news, reviews and more that’s fit to print. You can also follow us on Facebook or Twitter to keep up with the latest happenings.
