So Good News: Mission Impossible, Leonardo DiCaprio, Justice League

The world of movie news moves at light-speed some days, so it’s hard to keep up with everything. So welcome to today’s news briefing here at So, Is It Any Good? where we round up the breaking stories you might have missed.

Cruisin’ For A Bruisin’

Everyone knows that Tom Cruise likes to do his own stunts (I’m short too I feel you Tom), but he was reminded of his age over the weekend while reportedly hurting himself shooting Mission Impossible 6 missing his mark and hitting a building instead of landing on it. Head to TMZ for the video.

Leo vs. The Oscars Round 2

After several nominations and disappointments, Leonardo DiCaprio finally got his Oscar for grunting, eating animals, and fighting a bear in The Revenant. This time around he’s looking to possibly pick up a paint brush and change his name slightly to play the renowned inventor and artist  Leonardo DaVinci, and try for another shot at gold.leodicapriodavinci

Justice In Safe Hands

With the unfortunate circumstances seeing Zack Snyder hand over reigns of Justice League to Joss Whedon, Ben Affleck gives his support to the project and the reshoots in a new interview with EW.

“It’s a little bit unorthodox. Zack had a family tragedy, and stepped off, which was horrible. For the movie, the best person we could’ve possibly found was Joss. We got really lucky that he stepped in.” Affleck, who helmed the Best Picture-winning Argo, describes the resulting film as “an interesting product of two directors, both with kind of unique visions, both with really strong takes. I’ve never had that experience before making a movie. I have to say, I really love working with Zack, and I really love the stuff we’ve done with Joss.”

With both directors having a hand in its creation, Justice League is set to be a cool flick (fingers crossed).

Honey, I Shrank Matt Damon

I love festivals, we get a glimpse at either new directors and their capabilities, directors that may have fallen to the wayside thanks to the Hollywood superhero compulsion, and Laura Dern. We finally got to see our first look of Alexander Payne’s Downsizing starring Matt Damon, Dern, Neil Patrick Harris and Kristen Wiig, which is heading out on the festival circuit before its December release. Payne has likened the movie to an episode of Black Mirror, which can only be a good thing. Head over to EW for more on the film.DOWNSIZING
