Sony has released the first red band trailer for their new Scarlett Johansson starring Rough Night, which looks like a cross between Bridesmaids and Very Bad Things. Check it out above!
Here’s the official synopsis:
During a wild bachelorette weekend in Miami, a male stripper somehow winds up dead, leading to disastrous and hilarious consequences.
It’s interesting to see Johansson in this type of movie, she must’ve needed a change from the Marvel Universe and the action movie grind. I get a sense that she’ll be very much playing the straight woman to all the more seasoned comedy pros around her though.
Written and directed by the team behind the great Broad City series, and co-starring a bunch of very funny comediennes (Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, Kate McKinnon), this looks to have all the makings of a good comedy, but I was left feeling a little underwhelmed by the trailer. There was a vague sense of I’ve seen this all before, and most of the jokes just consisted of swearing loudly or the supporting gals doing their crazy schticks. I’m hoping they’ve saved the good stuff for the actual film.
ROUGH NIGHT is in Australia cinemas June 15, and in the US June 16.
