The ‘Rings’ Trailer will remind you why you’re scared of white noise

Paramount Pictures have just released the spooky new trailer in the latest instalment of the Ring saga.  Rings is set to introduce a cast of fresh meat for us to scream “Don’t play that tape” at.  The movie’s packed with relatively unknowns apart fom the brilliant Vincent D’Onofrio, although I’m not sure why he’s left this movie off his IMDB page.  Director F. Javier Gutiérrez doesn’t have too many notches on his belt so it’ll be interesting to see what he’s going to bring to the franchise.  Judging by the trailer it looks like they’re extending the lore and taking the story to new places (like an aeroplane).  Don’t worry, watching the trailer probably won’t kill you… probably?

Here’s the synopsis:

“A new chapter in the beloved RING horror franchise.
A young woman becomes worried about her boyfriend when he explores a dark subculture surrounding a mysterious videotape said to kill the watcher seven days after he has viewed it.
She sacrifices herself to save her boyfriend and in doing so makes a horrifying discovery: there is a “movie within the movie” that no one has ever seen before…”

It’s been 14 years since the first movie and this trailer made me want to watch the originals, reminding me of just how much the first movie freaked me out.  What do you think?  Are you ready to be terrified by the sound of white noise all over again?  Let us know in the comments section.
