So his next movie won’t be a Bonnie and Clyde style story set in Australia, as previously rumoured, because Quentin Tarantino is starting to put together his latest film project, what will surely be a unique spin on the infamous Manson Family murders.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Tarantino is quietly meeting with an A-List cast for the untitled feature, including his Inglorious Basterds lead Brad Pitt (being courted to play the detective investigating the murder), and Jennifer Lawrence. Deadline is also reporting a meeting between Tarantino and Margot Robbie, who could potentially take the Sharon Tate role. Samuel L. Jackson will undoubtedly have a role as well, considering his relationship with Tarantino.Script details are non-existent, but one of the potential stories could centre on Tate, the actress, and wife of director Roman Polanski who was murdered by Manson and his “family” in 1969. It would mark a departure for the director if all this comes together, as it’d be the first time he’s set a script based on true events. After taking on the western, thriller, war and other genres, it’ll be cool to see what he can do in the true crime vein.
The film is looking to shoot mid-next year, for a release in 2019. We’ll keep you posted as more details emerge. Are you excited to see Tarantino’s spin on this well-known story? Sound off in the comments below!
