Noomi Rapace Gets Her Conspiracy On In The Trailer For ‘Unlocked’

Lionsgate has dropped the first trailer for the throwback action thriller Unlocked, starring Noomi Rapace and Orlando Bloom (remember him?). Check it out above!

Here’s the official synopsis:

Noomi Rapace stars as a CIA operative who finds her mission compromised. She’s forced to team up with an MI5 agent, played by Orlando Bloom, to track down the terrorist infiltration and prevent a major attack in London.

This looks like the sort of straight to DVD style thriller that flooded the market after the September 11 attacks in 2001. The trailer is pretty awful, including every CIA/conspiracy trope in the book. It even goes so far as to spell out the plot of the movie in words “LONDON UNDER BIOLOGICAL THREAT”… we get it.

It also has the requisite older distinguished actors yelling stuff at computer screens scenes, so at least Michael DouglasJohn Malkovich, and Toni Collette get to bank another paycheck.

The strangest part is that the movie is directed by Michael Apted, director of such varying properties as the critically acclaimed Up series, as well as Gorillas In The Mist, James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough, and The Chronicles Of Narnia: Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. What an eclectic resume this guy has.

I like Noomi Rapace (Bloom I can take or leave), and the action looks halfway decent, so this might be worth a watch whenever it gets released on a streaming service (you know it’s heading that way). Just don’t be expecting the next big hit.

UNLOCKED is released in the UK on May 5, 2017, with both US and Australian releases TBC.
