Whether you realise it or not, a great soundtrack can be the difference between a good movie and a great one.
When done right, hearing particular songs will make you immediately think about a particular movie, just like we do with childhood memories or certain scents and tastes.
A new weekly feature I will be running here at So Is It Any Good? is a Movie Mixtape playlist on Spotify. Whether it be classic film scores or the best music from a particular director’s filmography, each week will cover a different topic or theme.
This week, we take charge on those great scenes from movies where the main character will build on their skill in a quick cut played out to sweet pumping music, known only as ‘The Montage’. We believe this style of storytelling has been around for decades however it became overwhelmingly popular with the Rocky franchise in the early 80’s so that’s where we thought we’d start this journey. So if you are heading to the Gym this is the perfect playlist for leg day!
Please note: We had a few extra tracks we wanted to add however sometimes Spotify didn’t want to play nice and have that song available.
