Hugh Jackman has been more than forthcoming about his plans to eventually hang up the metal claws that launched him to super stardom when Wolverine 3 finally makes its way down the pipeline. What hasn’t been confirmed though, is how many other X-Men films he will feature in until that day happens

Slashfilm reports that the rumoured involvement of Jackman in X-Men: Apocalypse, the third in the rebooted X-Men franchise (sixth film overall), has now been all but confirmed.

Somewhat dubiously, their confirmation comes from leather goods maker Kika NY, who announced to their followers on Instagram that they’d been commissioned to make a part of the costume for the Wolverine character in the currently shooting pic (via The Playlist):

We were just asked to make a special duffle backpack for Hugh Jackman who is filming the new X MEN movie in Montreal. We started sketching-The bag will be ready next week- we will keep you posted!

The post has since been deleted, probably from the swift urging of Fox representatives, but take from that what you will. It’s a slightly weird way to get casting confirmation, but that’s the interwebs for you. All we’re missing now is the reluctant official studio confirmation.

Logan/The Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) in X-Men: Days Of Future Past

This would continue Jackman’s perfect record of X-Men movies, having appeared in all of them (in some capacity) since the original. Will he continue the streak and appear in Deadpool and Gambit as well?

In related news, Sir Ian McKellan, he of the authoritative voice and withering stare as the original Magneto, has confirmed to Digital Spy that he won’t be reprising his Days Of Future Past role opposite his younger counterpart Michael Fassbender. “I haven’t heard [the rumors],” he told the site. “I don’t think I am, no, no. They’re currently making the film and I’m not in it.”

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE, directed by series architect Bryan Singer, is now filming and will be released in Australia on May 26, 2016.
