Deadline is reporting that Disney is currently looking at Chris Pratt for a reboot, or continuation of the Indiana Jones franchise, with Burt Macklin himself donning the whip and fedora. After the critically lackluster, but financially successful, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, Disney doesn’t seem keen to let an aging Harrison Ford jump back into the role. There’s no confirmation on when we may see this potential Indiana Jones 5, but it seems like we’re getting another Indiana Jones feature in some form or another whether we like it or not.
On a personal note, this is a bit of a sting of news. I’m a huge Chris Pratt fan, but I’m a bigger Indiana Jones fan, and Harrison Ford IS that character. While I can understand doing to this franchise what they did with all post Connery ‘Bond’ films, its just hard for me see anything working without Harrison Ford. That being said, this fan photo does a great job of showing potential:
Bonus Feature: The last time Disney did something with the Indiana Jones franchise, they did the Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland – possibly the greatest ‘dark ride’ ever built. Let’s hope that whatever Disney decide to do with a new film is as faithful and fun as this ride!
