The first trailer for the Goosebumps movie has finally been released.

Say hello to your childhood!

In Goosebumps, upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

I have to say, this looks like a hell of a lot of fun. It’s sort of like Night At The Museum meets Jumanji meets Cabin in The Woods. The film is led by Jack Black (The Neverending Story 3/Shallow Hal) and directed by Rob Letterman (Monsters vs. AliensGulliver’s Travels).  This is one of those movies you usually hear about, and think WHY?! But I didn’t get that with this movie. Is it going to be Oscar worthy? No, but it might be just enough to escape reality for an hour or two.

'Goosebumps' film - 2015

Along with all the other creatures we know and love, everyone’s favourite dummy Slappy is back and leading the charge for the monsters. My only hope is that they realise that the people that grew up with goosebumps are now in their twenties, even early thirties, so they don’t make it TOO childish… but they do have an interesting mix of writers on the project so only time will tell!

GOOSEBUMPS will be release in Australia on Boxing Day, December 26, 2015
