GEORGE MILLER COULD DIRECT MAN OF STEEL 2

Mad Max: Fury Road may have been considered only a moderate box office success, but the universal acclaim heaped upon the film has significantly raised stocks in its director, George Miller. And now comes news that the 70 year old may be lined up to helm DC and Warner Bros as yet unannounced sequel to Man of Steel.

The rumour was uttered by director Jon Schnepp, whose recent documentary Superman Lives: What Went Wrong? shed light on the infamous Tim Burton and Nicolas Cage take on the Superman legend. Here’s what Schnepp had to say whilst speaking to a panel during a recent online chatcast…

“George Miller is doing Man of Steel 2. I don’t feel weird about breaking it. Obviously Zack Snyder is doing Justice League one and two, James Wan is doing Aquaman. … I think George Miller’s a perfect choice to do Man of Steel 2. He’s going to bring so much to it.”

Funnily enough, Miller was attached to his own ill-fated Superman project back in 2007, with the short lived Justice League: Mortal. Development on that film may have fallen apart, but if Miller has proven anything after his 12 year journey to bring a new Mad Max film to the screen, its that perseverance pays off.

Time will tell whether this rumour is indeed true, but its refreshing to hear names like Miller’s thrown into the mix when most of Hollywood’s big budget action films are assigned to younger, less experienced directors over seasoned veterans.

Now if we can just make a Superman VS. Mad Max crossover film happen…

SUPER MAX 2

MAN OF STEEL 2 is yet to receive an official release date.
