Brie Larson goes Ballistic in the Red Band Trailer for ‘Free Fire’

Set predominantly in a 1978 Boston warehouse, Free Fire is what happens when an arms deal goes horribly, horribly wrong and every bugger has an itchy trigger finger.  Director Ben Wheatley is known for some really out there movies such as Sightseers and A Filed in England but this film looks to be more grounded in reality, all be it a humorous reality… with lots of guns.  When an English director, such as Wheatley, combines comedy with violence they’re always going to be compared to Guy Richie and in this case I can understand why.  Similar to the “Ex Mr Madonna”, he’s managed to pull together a pretty impressive cast.  So if you thought Brie Larson was spending every waking moment reading Captain Marvel comics you’d be wrong, she’s still got a few other movies lined up before she slips into spandex.  Joining her are Sharlto Copley, Armie Hammer, Brie LarsonCillian Murphy and Noah Taylor to name a few.  I’m looking forward to seeing this one, although for gangs buying and selling guns they seem to have all the accuracy of a blindfolded Storm Trooper in the dark, but I guess the movie would be over pretty quickly otherwise.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Free Fire centers around an arms deal that goes spectacularly and explosively wrong. Justine (Larson) has brokered a meeting in a deserted warehouse between two Irishmen and a gang led by Vernon and Ord, who are selling them a stash of guns. But when shots are fired during the handover, complete pandemonium ensues, with everyone at the scene suddenly thrust into a heart-stopping game of survival.”
