If you’re among the people that didn’t think there were enough toy-based movies (after the likes of Transformers, G.I Joe, and er… Battleship), well have we got a treat for you! Feast your eyes on the trailer for Max Steel, or what it should be known as – Teenage Iron Man. Seriously, Marvel should check their copyright.
The character of Max Steel, actually two people – a boy and his alien robot mentor, naturally – is an action figure that got a couple of different TV spin-offs and has now got the shiny big screen treatment. Featuring a young, pretty and bland cast of “teenagers”, a slumming it Maria Bello, and the on-set long enough to cash his paycheck Andy Garcia, this just comes off as a poor cousin to the Marvel MCU.
Here’s the official synopsis:
When teenage Max McGrath discovers his body can generate the universe’s most powerful energy, he must bond with the only being able to contain it – a mysterious techno-organic extraterrestrial named Steel. United as the superhero Max Steel, the two friends must combat an alien menace and unlock the secrets of their past.
