EMILY BLUNT TO PLAY CAPTAIN MARVEL?

The ever present, but never revealed “Inside Sources” have apparently confirmed what the Marvel rumour mill has been saying for weeks now – fan favourite Emily Blunt has signed on to star as Captain Marvel in the upcoming movie.

Marvel has copped a lot of criticism over the sausage-fest that is the Marvel Cinematic Universe so since the announcement of the stand alone Captain Marvel movie, part of Marvel’s Third Phase films, speculation about who will take on the title role has been high. Other stars considered for the role have apparently been Bryce Dallas Howard, Charlize Theron and  Jessica Chastain but it seems like Marvel has been chasing Emily Blunt for a while. She revealed in an interview last year that she had been approached for both Black Widow and Peggy Carter, but “scheduling conflicts” forced her to turn both roles down.

Considering the fact that Marvel is yet to announce a director for the project (favourites include Angelina Jolie & Joss Whedon), it’s all just speculation for now but we’d be pretty happy to see her as Captain Marvel. 2014’s Edge of Tomorrow certainly proved she has the grit for it.

Captain Marvel is slated to hit cinemas in November 2018
