Disney Are Being Held To Ransom By Online Hackers

Disney CEO Bob Iger has revealed that the mouse house is being held to ransom for a major undisclosed amount of Bitcoin. Hackers are claiming to to have access to a yet unreleased Disney movie, which Iger will not disclose, or pay. Disney are currently working with Federal investigators on the matter, and are waiting to see if the hackers will come through with their threat to release the film.

Some of Disney’s upcoming releases include:

  • Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
  • Cars 3
  • Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Rumors were in overdrive last week that a work print copy of Star Wars: The Last Jedi had been stolen from the studio, and even though the online community were quick to debunk the rumor and label it as a hoax, Disney provided no comment on the matter.

The Disney CEO also added that they are threatening to release the first 5 minutes of the film the first time, and then 20 minute chunks of the film each time after that, until the ransom is met.

It was only a few weeks ago that Netflix had Orange Is The New Black stolen from one of it’s post production vendors, where the hackers released the first 10 episodes of the hit series, after Netflix refused to also pay an undisclosed amount.
