Charlie Hunnam Is Locked (Stocked) And Loaded In The New ‘King Arthur’ Trailer

Warner Bros has released a new look at Guy Ritchie‘s reimagining of the King Arthur legend, King Arthur: Legend Of The SwordTake a look by hitting the play button above!

Here’s the official synopsis:

King Arthur is a fresh take on the classic Excalibur tale, tracing Arthur’s (Hunnam) journey from the streets to the throne. When his father is murdered, his uncle, Vortigern (Jude Law), seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy, whether he likes it or not.

Not a Disney remake of their animated classic Sword In The Stone (although let’s be honest, that’s probably coming), this gritty take goes for medieval realism mixed with Ritchie’s signature editing flourishes it seems. It doesn’t seem to be shying away from the more magical aspects of the legend too, which hampered the last telling of this story, 2004’s King Arthur.

Medieval epics have had a tough time at the box office, so we’ll see in May if Ritchie’s magic touch can extend to this troubled genre.

KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD hits theatres May 11.
