Baldwin does the Business in the Trailer for ‘Boss Baby’

Oh look another kid’s movie where a new character moves in to disrupt the peaceful life of the main protagonist [see Toy Story or more recently The Secret Life of Pets].  Based on the children’s book of the same name, Boss Baby turns his older brother’s world upside down when he joins the family wearing a suit, drinking coffee and sounding a lot like Alec Baldwin.  Baldwin’s no stranger to animated movies having featured in Madagascar 2 and Rise of the Guardians to name but a few and with the animated feature Artic Justice: Thundersquad released next year he looks to have found his groove.  Directed by Dreamworks regular Tom McGrath (all the Madagascar movies and Megamind) and staring Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy Kimmel and Steve Buscemi it’s not exactly bristling with the kind of star power we’re used to from most modern animations.

Obvious comparisons are going to be made to Roger Rabbit’s loud mouthed, cigar smoking, womanising Baby Herman and there’s definitely a hint of Family Guy’s Stewie Griffin in there too.  I hope Baldwin will bring something new and it won’t just be another Trump impersonation with dirty nappy jokes.  Here’s the synopsis:

“DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby. He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby. The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby’s arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim. With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks’ The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages.”

Boss Baby is in Aussie Cinemas March 26
