A WALK AMONG THE TOMBSTONES – REVIEW

Liam Neeson is back to his old tricks in ‘A Walk Among the Tombstones’, well at least that’s what the trailer suggested. So, is it any good?

YES

The trailer plays  ‘A Walk Among the Tombstones’ to be a action/thriller. I’ll let the cat out of the bag, it’s just a thriller. This is not your typical Liam Neeson ‘Taken’ style flick, it’s a deep, thought provoking murder thriller. Think Prisoners or Zodiac.

Matt Scudder (Liam Neeson) is a Ex NY Detective, now working as an unlicensed P.I. for hire, paid to do your dirty work. Matt reluctantly takes on a case for a well known drug dealer to find the murderer of his wife. Little does Matt know that he is about to uncover the most shocking case of his career.

Now here is what the trailer suggests, *New York, Dark sky, brooding music*, “Matt Scudder is out for justice”, *Explosions*, “He’s got a certain set of skills, just dont get in his way”, *Neeson shoots the screen*, “Taken 27”

Some times distributors and studios market trailers to appear to be the the leading stars last movie because they made a lot of money from it or they are afraid that the new movie won’t make money. So they cut the trailer to feel like the hits from the past. I get why they do it, but I feel like when it comes to prolific actors like Neeson movie folk will come just because of his name.

As for the flick itself and putting my frustrations with the trailer aside, its the perfect thriller, a 3rd of a cup of utter creepiness shrouded by mystery and a smidge of action. Liam Neeson at this stage could phone it in but luckily enough he doesn’t, he’s at the top of his game. If you’re looking for a little something different to watch, I recommend ‘A Walk Among The Tombstones’.
