Sony Just Threw Everything Into The Latest Ghostbusters Trailer

Sony Pictures have just put out a new Ghostbusters trailer in the world. Check it out above.

Here is the official synopsis:

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they’re here to save the world!

While this trailer tries to fix up a few things that the first screwed up, it’s a hell of a lot clearer that this reboot is more of a direct remake, just on a bigger budget. The story appears to hit the same beats as the original, everything down to the Mayor and Giant Ghost (Stay Puft) and whatever this CGI abomination is…Untitled-1I’m all for a reboot to the franchise, as I have said 100’s of times before, but now that I know that its closer to a direct remake I just want to cry ‘Why’? What’s the point? The original still holds up.

Lastly the trailer itself is a clear last ditch effort to save whatever chance Sony has to make bank on the film. It’s basically the entire plot, the main villain, a bunch of cameos and the original theme song. Good Luck Sony!

GHOSTBUSTERS opens in Australia on 14th July 2016
