“I am Doctor Dolittle”
Yes, that’s right, Robert Downey Jr is set to star in Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle. He will be the third actor to take up the mantle, previously played by Eddie Murphy and Rex Harrison. Stephen Gaghan is set to direct his first family film, having previously written the Academy award winning film Traffic as well as both writer and director duties on George Clooney‘s Syriana.
For those of you wondering how Stephen Gaghan can go from high stakes drama films to family films and pull off something spectacular just remember this name, George Miller, the father of both Mad Max and a little dancing penguin in Happy Feet.
One has to wonder how much Iron Man Robert Downey Jr has left in him after Avengers: Infinity War. His schedule seems to be filling up fast with other non-Marvel films such as Sherlock Holmes 3, Pinocchio and now Doctor Dolittle. Could Thanos spell the end of Tony Stark? Or is Marvel prepared to go film to film with no contracts to keep the lifeblood that is Downey Jr in the MCU for years to come?
No release date has been set for Doctor Dolittle as of yet, Robert Downey Jr can be seen next in Marvel/Sony’s highly anticipated film Spiderman: Homecoming on July 6th, 2017 and Avengers: Infinity War on May 4th, 2018.
