Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children Trailer – Curiouser And Curiouser

After a weirdly hypnotic teaser trailer was released last year, I’ve been waiting a while for a proper trailer to drop for Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar ChildrenToday, that wait is over, as Fox gives us our first peek of the Tim Burton YA novel adaptation, and it’s suitably Burton-esque.

Hugo‘s Asa Butterfield plays Jake, a 16-year-old who discovers clues to a mystery that spans alternate realities and times — and uncovers Miss Peregrine’s secret island refuge. Eva Green stars as the eponymous head of the orphanage for kids with various oddities — being weightless, invisible, having projector eyes, and pretty much everything else in between. As he learns about the residents and their unusual abilities, Jake realizes that safety is an illusion, and danger lurks in the form of powerful, hidden enemies. He must figure out who is real, who can be trusted, and who he really is.peregrins-gallery6-gallery-imageFrom the looks of the trailer, this is a bit more grounded than other Burton worlds like Edward Scissorhands and Alice In Wonderland, with a nice period detail to it. Fans of the director will be happy to see him reveal in the visuals that these special powers will provide, and the opening bubble/air powers from the trailer are definitely the standout. I’m excited to see Burton tackle this property, it’s definitely in his wheelhouse.

Joining Butterfield and Green in the film are Ella Purnell, Allison Janney, Terence Stamp, Rupert Everett, Judi Dench and Samuel L Jackson (who seems to be channeling somewhere between his Unbreakable and Django Unchained looks).

Fox has also released a new poster for the film:miss-peregrines-peculiar-home-for-childrenMISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN levitates into theatres September 29.
