MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN – TEASER TRAILER

A teaser trailer has shown up for the new Tim Burton film Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, coming March next year, and as you might expect from the name of the movie, it’s downright peculiar:

The teaser, which appeared on Loop Day (known to most of us as Thursday, Sept. 3) does what good teaser trailers are supposed to do and makes you want to know more. Not sure what Loop Day is, or whether the song has any significance, but I’m definitely keen to see more. Knowing nothing about the book nor the movie adaptation, I let my fingers do the Googling, and came across this synopsis for the film:

From visionary director Tim Burton, and based upon the best-selling novel, comes an unforgettable motion picture experience. When his beloved grandfather leaves Jake clues to a mystery that spans different worlds and times, he finds a magical place known as Miss Peregrine’s School for Peculiar Children. But the mystery and danger deepen as he gets to know the residents and learns about their special powers…and their terrifying enemies. Ultimately, Jake discovers that only his own special “peculiarity” can save his new friends.

Curiouser and curiouser…

From that brief description (I decided against immersing myself in the thorough Wikipedia entry for the book) I’m definitely interested to see Burton’s take on this world. He finally might have found another story that suits his macabre sensibilities in the vein of Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. Hopefully it’s better than Dark Shadows anyway…

Directed by Tim Burton and starring Eva Green, Asa Butterfield, Samuel L. Jackson, Allison Janney, and Judi Dench, Miss Peregrine’s should make its way to our screens in March 2016.
